CP Electronics is a company specialising in the manufacturing of intelligent lighting and energy control systems.
Their current Windows infrastructure had grown organically and no longer provided the performance or structure that was required for their rapidly growing business to operate efficiently.
CP Electronics’ current IT services supplier was also unable to provide them with the elevated services that were now required.
Virtual Tech Professional Services implemented an Active Directory infrastructure utilising Windows Small Business Server coupled with an upgrade of all client machines from Windows XP Home to Windows 7 Pro. This allowed for central management of users and computers.
Microsoft’s Business Desktop Deployment Framework was utilised to assist the Windows and Microsoft Office migration. Group Policies, NTFS Permissions and Logon Scripts were introduced to provide increased security, and drive/folder/printer mappings dependent on departmental group membership.
Remote access was provided to CP Electronics’ Headquarters through a secure Cisco VPN client over Vodafone’s 3G network. Exchange Mobile Services, Outlook Web Access, Outlook Mobile Access and Outlook Anywhere were also enabled. This allowed CP Electronics’ mobile sales force and remote users to always be connected and ready for business.
Virtual Tech’s vCloud Recovery was deployed for backup and disaster recovery. vCloud Recovery provides CP Electronics with autonomous backup schedules, granular file recovery, and rapid recoverability to dissimilar hardware or even virtual servers hosted by the Virtual Tech recovery server placed on site. vCloud Recovery also provides CP Electronics with a fully fledged disaster recovery solution. Data is securely replicated to Virtual Tech’s Tier 4 financial grade Data Centre. In the event of a server failure or office failure CP Electronics servers can be easily recovered and made available through a secure web portal.
Virtual Tech also took over support responsibilities, employing Virtual Guard which consists of two dedicated qualified support engineers and real time monitoring of their server and network infrastructure. This allows Virtual Tech to prevent and resolve any infrastructure based issues, long before the client is even aware that an issue has occurred. Virtual Guard also enables traditional, over the telephone and remote support for CP Electronics’ end users.
