IT Manager, The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading diversified international family entertainment and media enterprise with the following business segments: media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, consumer products and interactive media
Disney understood that their current infrastructure was far behind the latest technologies and that by engaging Virtual Tech they knew we could help to enable their business to evolve. To this end, a significant investment was made to upgrade their current IT infrastructure.
After a comprehensive tendering process, Virtual Tech was selected to work closely with their IT manager to design, implement and project manage the IT infrastructure upgrade.
Disney’s existing server infrastructure consisted of outdated blades and servers that were also out of warranty, no central management of remote office workers, a failing backup solution and a stretched IT support team.
By identifying Disney's future business and IT aspirations, Virtual Tech was able to design a robust, scalable and highly available IT infrastructure.
Virtual Tech provided a detailed scope of work which included a phased approach to upgrading Disney's infrastructure. Implementing supported EMEA VMware virtualisation platform which spanned across 50 regional offices, we also placed vCloud Director to provide a self service portal allow business managers to provision new servers on demand, Virtual Tech also upgraded Disney's vSphere from version 4 to version 5.
